Koh Tao, Thailand

Our second stop while Island hopping in Thailand was the smaller island of Koh Tao. The 2 hour ferry from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao was not one we would like to relive. Due to choppy seas many people on the boat became sick, including us 😦 The Island of Koh Tao had a much more relaxed feel. It is known for it’s beautiful and affordable diving. Unfortunately, we were unable to participate in this due to my current medical condition I mentioned in my previous post. We did however take advantage of the beautiful beaches. We stayed at CK hostel steps away from Sairee beach, which was a major improvement from our last place. We were very happy to have a room that was actually clean with our own bathroom that had a working toilet and hot water! We spent our 3 days soaking up the sun. Our favorite excursion was to Koh Nang Yuan national park which is just a 15 minute taxi boat ride away. This is actually the only place in the world where 3 islands are connected by one sandbar! As you can see from the picture above it is a must do to hike to the top of the island in order to get that gorgeous view. Keep in mind you are not the only person who wants to see this so be prepared to wait and do some climbing to capture that perfect picture 🙂 The waters are much clearer here than on Sairee beach so we might as well make a day of it! We also tried one of the best meals on this trip at a restaurant called Fizz Beach lounge. It was recommended to us by some friends we met in the Philippines who live here. The meal I had was chicken curry marsala and it was delightful! If there are 2 things I have learned on this trip so far it’s that you can’t go wrong by ordering pad thai or any type of curry! I hope we are able to come back again to partake in diving next time.

    1. We are in Koh Samui now and took motion sickness medicine before the ferry here and had no problems. Definitely worth the 100 baht in the pharmacy. We would recommend picking up some up just in case. Have fun!
